Module 3 - Introduction Wine, Bartending & Mixology
Students will learn about wine, spirits and how to create cocktails during this module. Students must be able to identify basic tasting notes, communicate the difference between four wines and demonstrate basic suitable pairing with foods. Crew will be taught where various popular spirits are made and from what raw material, the mechanics of some basics of cocktails and how to present different styles that charter guests will enjoy.
This module includes a theory test where students must show a basic knowledge of the wine making process for red, white, rose, sparkling and fortified wine. They will list grape varieties and locations associated with names found on a wine list. They must know the difference between new world and old world wine, discuss wine tasting notes and methods and how to open and serve wine to guest on board yachts. The students will also discuss distillation and the definition of various popular spirits then list popular cocktails, bar equipment and garnish methods.
For the practical test students taste four wines guided by a tasting notes reference. They must identify the differences and pair each wine with appropriate food. Students will also be asked to make different styles of cocktails.
Successful students will be accredited a G.U.E.S.T certificate for completion of the Yacht Interior Introduction Course by Titan Fleet.
